Leslie D asked:

A friend (he’s my boss actually) is a skillful woodworker ( beautiful boxes and bowls..he built himself a classical guitar of excellent quality!) with a great eye for design. He is interested in becoming an apprentice to a woodworker in Japan, or in studying blacksmithing, which is a whole new field to him. He’s very talented…background in architecture. Anyone got any ideas as to where he should go to look for opportunities? Thanks very much.

I am going to build a changing table/dresser out of some beautiful 1″X8″ white oak. The problem is I haven’t ever built something strictly from plank wood, usually my projects have come from sheets of plywood. I plan to have open shelving that small baskets sit in, so there are no drawers, but I want to avoid being able to see any kind of frame of a lesser wood. If this makes sense please throw me any ideas you can, they’d be welcomed and greatly appreciated!!

What’s one of the best electric table saws that would be good for cutting out shelves and woodwork trim?

I’m wanting to buy one that is easy to use since I haven’t had alot of experience using one.

Any tips would be appreciated!
